Summer at the Table: Simple Meals, Sacred Moments

By July 2, 2026No Comments2 min read

July settles over Texas like a warm quilt…heavy with heat, bright with sunlight,
and full of quiet invitations to slow down. The table becomes one of the easiest
places to gather. Not for elaborate feasts or complicated recipes, but for simple
meals that make space for connection, gratitude, and grace.

I love sharing a table with my family, no matter how humble the meal. Sitting
together without rushing lets the moment breathe. It leaves the table full of
laughter and prayer, reminding me that God meets us in the ordinary rhythms of our lives.

This season, I’m leaning into meals that don’t heat up the house and don’t ask
much of me. Fresh salads, storebought grilled chicken, and a loaf of bread are more than enough. I know a bowl of chilled fruit can quiet my hurried mind, and a nocook dinner can open an evening for conversation.

Sacred moments rarely announce themselves. They slip in quietly…during the
passing of a plate, the clink of ice in a glass, the story someone didn’t expect to
tell. They arrive when we choose presence over perfection, simplicity over stress, and gratitude over performance.

So let me encourage you this summer: let your table be a place of rest,
nourishment, and grace. May it hold conversations that matter and memories that linger. May every simple meal remind you that God is near, shaping sacred
moments out of ordinary evenings with the people you love.

My prayer is that you and I will have many more opportunities to sit and eat with our families for years to come.
